Maintenance Mechanic


This salaried exempt position reports to the Plant manager at Soledad. Position is responsible for but not limited to:
Supervision for all plant maintenance areas, supervision and development of all maintenance mechanics and personnel scheduling, training and safety for the department, development and responsibility for maintenance budget, ordering materials required, capital justifications and improvements, dealing will all outside maintenance vendors, computer knowledge and use of required maintenance software's and programs. Work closely with production staff and all other departments in order to keep facility and equipment in best of operating condition. Plans, organizes, directs and controls the activities and staff involved in the design, construction, coordination, modification, maintenance and administration of the company's facilities and equipment. Develops plans and programs responsive to present and anticipated space and facility requirements. Dealing and working closely with certain regulatory agencies where applicable.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for all the maintenance upkeep and continuous improvements of equipment, buildings/grounds, etc.
Insure that all maintenance work whether through outside vendors and/or internal mechanics is in compliance with company and governmental requirements including regulatory, safety, and sanitation.
Strong leadership skills, self-motivated, positive attitude, team player and developer of mechanics skills. Strong communication (verbal/written), problem solving, decision-making, coaching, training, etc.
Ability to meet deadlines and ever-changing production demands and a willingness to work when needed.
Ensures efficient utilization of all winery equipment.
Responsible for repair, modification and maintaining winery equipment and building facilities.
Establish and maintain daily work schedule, maintenance records and inventory of equipment.
Negotiates with vendors, seeks bids from suppliers and independent contractors.
Ensure that all maintenance work performed whether through outside vendors and/or internal mechanics is in compliance with company and governmental requirements especially safety and sanitation.
Responsible for all the maintenance upkeep and continuous improvements of equipment, buildings/grounds, etc.
Recommend changes in systems, processes and equipment to reduce cost and/or improve the mechanical efficiency of production.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work activities are within an office and manufacturing environment
Position will be exposed to indoor and outdoor environments with varying noise levels
Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in the performance of various tasks in a production environment
Must be able to lift 50lbs occasionally

QUALIFICATIONS

Food and/or beverage manufacturing experience. Wine industry experience a plus.
7-10 years related experience.
Completion of technical training, journey-level education in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, welding or equivalent experience.
Demonstrate ability to work with PLC programs, large Freon refrigeration equipment, 3 phase 460VAC equipment, and all other equipment associated with running a large winery.
Strong communication (verbal/written), problem solving, decision-making, coaching, training, etc.
Knowledge of OSHA and other FED/State rules and regulations including environmental.
Demonstrate ability to manage projects.

Four year College education, may substitute experience for higher education.
Experience in Industrial electronics/electrical, refrigeration, pneumatics, mechanical, hydraulics, building construction, blueprints, processing equipment, boilers, PLC's and VFD's is a must.
Strong computer skills relating to CMMS/work order system, programming, etc. typically in the maintenance field.
